The healing journey
Everyone heals differently, but you can expect the following phases.
Immediately After
- Lips may be sore, swollen and the color will look much more intense than the healed results
- Swelling or minor bruising can occur for 1-2 days
- Gently wipe away fluid with a wet cotton round about every hour, then pat dry
days 2 - 10
- Keep hands clean before touching your lips
- don’t keep lips excessively wet for prolonged periods.
- moisturizer lips as often as needed with recomended ointment
- Do not pick, scratch or bite peeling or scabbing lips.
after scabbing
- Once the peeling/flaking is complete, your lips may look milky or gray or lighter
- This is completely normal and part of healing process
- Color will begin to return gradually
fully healed
- complete healing takes about 6 weeks
- final color and results can be evaluated at this time.
- touchups may be needed to perfect your results.
what to avoid
Avoid tanning and UV exposure for 4 weeks.
Avoid facials, botox, chemical peels and microdermabrasion for 4 weeks
Avoid heat, saunas, hot tubs and intense work outs that cause heavy sweating
Avoid picking, peeling or biting lips.
Avoid lip products and harsh skincare products until fully healed
Avoid alcohol for 48 hours
long term care
Always protect your lips from UV exposure. Use SPF on your lips daily.
Avoid products with active ingredients such as retinol and acids on the lips. It can cause faster fading.
Lip blush fades overtime. Typically 1-3 years depending on your skin and lifestyle. Touch ups are recommended to maintain your color and shape.
